About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior MySQL Developer with 6–10 years of strong hands-on experience in database development, query optimization, and performance tuning. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in MySQL/Amazon Aurora MySQL, complex SQL queries, stored procedures, indexing, and database performance optimization.

The candidate will work closely with application developers, QA, DevOps, and product teams to design efficient database solutions, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure reliable handling of business-critical data.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex database problems, improving query performance, and working with large-scale production databases.

Key ResponsibilitiesMySQL & Aurora Development

• Design, develop, and maintain database solutions using MySQL and Amazon Aurora MySQL.

• Develop complex SQL queries, joins, subqueries, views, functions, and database objects.

• Create and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and other database components.

• Design efficient database schemas based on application and business requirements.

• Ensure database solutions are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.

Query Optimization & Performance Tuning

• Analyze and optimize slow or complex SQL queries.

• Use EXPLAIN and EXPLAIN ANALYZE to understand query execution plans.

• Identify performance bottlenecks related to queries, indexes, joins, and database design.

• Create and improve indexes to increase query performance.

• Perform database performance tuning for high-volume and production workloads.

• Monitor query performance and recommend improvements to development teams.

Production Database Support

• Troubleshoot database-related production issues and provide root-cause analysis.

• Analyze slow queries, locking issues, deadlocks, connection problems, and resource utilization.

• Support database changes and releases while maintaining data integrity.

• Work with engineering and DevOps teams to ensure database reliability and availability.

Data & Database Management

• Work with large datasets and high-transaction database environments.

• Perform data validation, migration, and transformation when required.

• Ensure database changes follow proper development, testing, and deployment practices.

• Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across applications.

Collaboration & Ownership

• Work closely with developers to improve SQL and database design.

• Review database-related code and provide optimization recommendations.

• Collaborate with QA teams for database and performance testing.

• Take ownership of database performance issues and drive them to resolution.

• Document database designs, optimization approaches, and production solutions.

Must-Have Skills

• 6–10 years of strong experience in MySQL Database Development.

• Strong hands-on experience with MySQL/Amazon Aurora MySQL.

• Excellent knowledge of complex SQL queries.

• Strong experience with Stored Procedures and database functions.

• Hands-on experience in Query Optimization.

• Strong understanding of EXPLAIN / execution plans.

• Good knowledge of Indexing strategies.

• Strong experience in Database Performance Tuning.

• Experience troubleshooting database issues in production environments.

Good to Have

• Experience working with JSON data in MySQL.

• Knowledge of database-related automation and scripting.

• Experience with database monitoring and performance tools.

• Knowledge of backup and recovery processes.

• Experience working with large-scale data and high-volume transactional databases.

• Exposure to AWS database services and cloud-based production environments.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be a hands-on database professional and strong problem solver who can independently analyze complex SQL, identify database bottlenecks, optimize queries, and improve overall database performance. Experience with large-scale production databases and Aurora MySQL will be highly valuable.
