National Account Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a National Account Manager based in United States.

This role serves as a strategic relationship leader for major financial institution, bank, and wirehouse partners.
You will build trusted executive relationships while developing account strategies that drive revenue, retention, shelf placement, and distribution growth.
The position sits at the intersection of sales, product, marketing, operations, finance, legal, compliance, and field distribution.
You will translate partner priorities and market intelligence into actionable business plans and measurable commercial outcomes.
The role offers significant visibility, requiring strong influence, negotiation, and consultative selling skills across complex stakeholder environments.
You will also lead business reviews, governance activities, product initiatives, and escalated issue resolution to strengthen the partner and advisor experience.
Success will depend on your ability to combine strategic thinking, relationship leadership, commercial insight, and disciplined execution.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans aligned with enterprise growth objectives, partner priorities, and assigned firm goals.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager and strategic liaison for financial institution, bank, and wirehouse partners, cultivating trusted relationships with executive decision-makers and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with life insurance and annuity leadership to establish priorities, develop execution plans, and drive strategic initiatives through completion.
  • Lead business reviews, planning sessions, due diligence discussions, governance meetings, and other executive partner engagements.
  • Drive revenue growth, retention, account expansion, shelf placement, and distribution opportunities through proactive business development and consultative relationship management.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, product positioning, pricing dynamics, and partner shelf opportunities, translating insights into actionable growth recommendations.
  • Coordinate Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Technology, and field distribution resources to execute cohesive account strategies.
  • Communicate strategic changes, product enhancements, organizational updates, national meetings, and regional priorities to internal stakeholders and field teams.
  • Advocate for partner needs while balancing broader enterprise objectives, aligning resources to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain a high standard of partner satisfaction through proactive communication, timely issue resolution, and effective internal coordination.
  • Partner with operational teams to resolve escalated customer and advisor issues and identify opportunities to strengthen the overall partner experience.
  • Manage sponsored meeting budgets and support partner due diligence, reporting, agreements, and communications in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide informal leadership, mentorship, and strategic guidance to Relationship Managers and cross-functional colleagues, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage CRM platforms, sales analytics, business intelligence dashboards, executive reporting tools, and AI-enabled technologies to improve productivity, decision-making, client engagement, and business communication.
  • Requirements

    • 6+ years of experience in life insurance, annuity distribution, national account management, strategic accounts, wirehouse relationships, or financial institution relationship management.
    • Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products, distribution models, partner economics, and financial services sales environments.
    • Proven ability to drive sales and revenue growth, retention, shelf placement, partner advocacy, relationship health, and execution of firm-level business plans.
    • Experience leading business reviews, firm governance, sales planning, onboarding, product launches, distribution expansion, and strategic account initiatives.
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate resources across Operations, Product, Marketing, Compliance, Technology, Finance, and Sales to support partner objectives and resolve escalations.
    • Strong ability to operate autonomously while maintaining alignment with leadership and broader enterprise priorities.
    • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, consultative selling, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to translate complex partner needs, market intelligence, and business information into actionable growth strategies and executive-level recommendations.
    • Experience influencing stakeholders and negotiating priorities within complex, matrixed organizations.
    • Informal leadership experience, including mentoring Relationship Managers, supporting professional development, and fostering accountability across cross-functional teams.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales results, partner engagement trends, operational metrics, and competitive intelligence.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, and business intelligence resources.
    • Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to enhance productivity, decision-making, client engagement, or business communication.
    • Willingness and ability to travel as business needs require.
