  • Volunteer Recruitment and Retention: Oversee national volunteer pipelines, creating scalable systems for recruitment, onboarding, retention, and leadership development. Design initiatives that deepen community connections and encourage long-term participation.

  • Community Education and Mobilization: Lead national and local initiatives that increase awareness of the organization's mission and strengthen community involvement. Build a culture that recognizes volunteers as essential contributors to mission delivery.

  • Partnerships and External Representation: Establish and expand strategic partnerships with community organizations, corporations, and local leaders. Represent the organization at national conferences, public forums, and industry convenings, while collaborating with communications teams to share compelling community stories.

  • Chapter and Network Expansion: Lead the development and expansion of local chapters across priority markets. Create practical toolkits, operating standards, resources, and support systems that promote consistency while allowing regional flexibility.

  • Data, Impact, and Operational Excellence: Define and monitor key performance indicators related to engagement, volunteer retention, and program impact. Use data-driven insights to improve performance, establish best practices, and maintain appropriate policies and compliance standards across engagement programs.

  • Requirements:

    • Relevant Experience: At least 7 years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, or a related field, including leadership across national, regional, or multi-site operations.

    • Program Development and Scaling: Demonstrated success building and expanding volunteer systems, community engagement programs, chapter networks, or grassroots initiatives.

    • People Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams, establish clear expectations, and support professional growth.

    • Strategic and Operational Skills: Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to translate ideas into scalable systems, practical processes, and measurable results.

    • Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build authentic, lasting partnerships.

    • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Experience defining performance indicators, analyzing engagement metrics, and using insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.

    • Leadership Mindset: A people-centered, entrepreneurial approach, with the adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage change, and take ownership of complex initiatives.

    • Mission Alignment: A genuine commitment to community impact, volunteer engagement, and expanding access to food and essential resources.

    • Preferred Qualifications:

      • Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) or an equivalent credential.

      • Experience managing chapter-based, decentralized, or geographically distributed organizations.
