National High Performance Trainer
About SCF
Founded in 1949, the Singapore Chess Federation (SCF) is the national authority for chess in Singapore, affiliated with FIDE and a member of the Singapore National Olympic Council and Sport Singapore. SCF is a registered society, an Institute of Public Character, and a non-profit with charitable status.
Job Description:
- Training the National Team, especially in the lead up to major games such as the World Chess Olympiad.
- Being one of the lead trainers for the National Training Program, High Performance and High-Performance Intermediate squads which falls under the SCF’s High Performance Systems.
- Taking on trainer roles for any ad-hoc training camps organised by the SCF.
- Conducting private group or individual training sessions (when these are approved by the SCF).
- Travelling overseas with Team Singapore or with individuals representing Team Singapore and providing coaching on site.
- Conducting at least 2 Continuing Coach Education workshops for local coaches per year.
- Mentoring at least 2 local coaches per year.
- In collaboration with the head of the Training and Development Committee, designing a comprehensive training program for the SCF to implement across all training squads.
Job Requirements:
- International Chess Grandmaster with minimum 5 years of coaching in an individual and/or group
- Must be a FIDE trainer
- Good written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Competent in chess-playing software tools to create training materials independently
- Good track record in leading and motivating teams of players
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Applicants are expected to work on weekends
