The Safety Manager is responsible for building, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive safety program for Uperio North America. This critical role ensures that all operations meet or exceed OSHA, NCCCO, and industry-specific standards while fostering a strong safety culture across six locations. The position plays a key role in post-merger integration, field accountability, incident prevention, training, and regulatory compliance in the crane and heavy equipment rental industry.


We are looking for someone with 5 to 7 years of experience. This position offers a salary of $80k to $85K.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Safety Program Development & Maintenance

• Builds and maintains the documented Uperio North America safety program.

• Develops, publishes, and maintains safety policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures.

• Ensures the safety program meets or exceeds OSHA and NCCCO requirements.

• Manages the JHam Group Consulting relationship and safety audit program, tracking corrective actions to closure.


Audits, Field Support & Compliance

• Conducts scheduled and unannounced safety audits at all six Uperio locations.

• Supports East and West Coast Service Directors on field safety accountability and issues safety observations and corrective action reports following site visits.

• Attends job site pre-task planning meetings and toolbox talks as required.

• Manages ISNetworld and Avetta pre-qualification platform compliance as needed.

• Liaises with customers and general contractors on safety pre-qualification requirements.


Training, Events & Safety Culture

• Owns the safety training calendar across all entities and ensures all required training is assigned and completed before expiration in HSI.

• Develops and delivers safety training content for field and office staff.

• Coordinates Safety Day and other company-wide safety events.


Incident Investigation, Reporting & Metrics

• Serves as the primary coordinator for all significant safety incidents and participates in incident investigations and root cause analysis.

• Leads or supports root cause investigations and tracks corrective actions from investigations to confirmed closure.

• Prepares incident reports for HQ, insurance carriers, and regulatory bodies as required.

• Coordinates with the insurance broker (Gallagher) on incident-related claims.

• Tracks and reports safety metrics including LTI, MTI, near-miss incidents, and frequency rates.

• Prepares and submits all required safety reports to HQ.

• Reports safety metrics and program status to the President on a weekly basis.

• Presents safety program status to HQ as part of the monthly business review.


Fleet Safety & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Maintains vehicle fleet records and monitors Fleet Safety devices and Telematics systems.

• Acts as the primary point of contact with Enterprise Fleet management.

• Coordinates with HR on safety recordkeeping and training documentation.
