EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt from Wage and Hour Laws
WORK SCHEDULE: Alternative Workweek: 9/80 Schedule
SUMMARY
The Natural Resources Safety and Training Coordinator supports the day-to-day implementation of CCNB’s Natural Resources program by coordinating field operations, training and mentoring a team of 4–10 Crew Supervisors and up to 50 Corpsmembers, overseeing the successful execution of natural resources projects, coordinating safety and training programs, and ensuring the timely completion of departmental administrative functions. The position collaborates with other CCNB departments to support Corpsmember development and success while fostering a positive learning environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, safety, and high-quality project outcomes.
Working closely with the Natural Resources Site Manager, the Natural Resources Safety and Training Coordinator supports departmental operations by coordinating special projects, monitoring field activities, providing regular updates on project progress, safety, training, and assisting with the implementation of departmental priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities of the Natural Resources Safety and Training Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate the successful execution of Natural Resources field projects. Ensure that Crew Supervisors have the information, equipment, and resources to complete projects safely, efficiently, and to specification. Regularly visit project sites to support crew performance, provide quality control, and address issues.
- Ensure all CCNB policies and procedures are followed and collaborate with the Natural Resources Site Manager to address any concerns.
- Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, private companies, and other project partners. Serve as a liaison between field staff, project partners, and the Natural Resources management team to ensure effective communication and successful project implementation.
- Facilitate communication between Crew Supervisors, Career Pathways department staff, and other CCNB personnel to support Corpsmember success. Mentor and support Corpsmembers, notify Career Pathways staff of Corpsmember barriers and additional support needs, and coach Crew Supervisors on effective methods for interacting with Corpsmembers.
- Collaborate with Crew Supervisors to successfully complete all administrative functions within the Natural Resources department, including the crew output logs, training hours in Salesforce, organization and maintenance of project photos, and more.
- Support in the implementation of CCNB’s discipline policies for Corpsmembers. Address Corpsmember performance issues proactively, meet with Corpsmembers to discuss performance issues, and ensure proper documentation of all disciplinary actions.
- Conduct orientation and onboarding activities for Natural Resources Crew Supervisors and Corpsmembers.
- Provide support and guidance to employees on timekeeping procedures and Paycom, ensuring accurate time entry and timely timecard approvals.
- Collaborate with Crew Supervisors to carry out the implementation of staff and Corpsmember training programs for field-based skills (chainsaw, chipper, fire fuel reduction, trail construction and maintenance, habitat restoration, etc.). Lead training sessions and/or support Crew Supervisors in leading training sessions.
- Assist in the successful implementation of CCNB’s safety program in collaboration with Natural Resources Staff and CCNB’s Safety Committee and proactively address safety concerns.
- Procure Natural Resources crew supplies such as personal protective equipment and first aid supplies. Notify the Natural Resources Site Manager of tool and equipment needs.
- Manage the CCNB Store by maintaining accurate inventory of uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE), issuing supplies to employees and Corpsmembers, and completing required payroll deduction forms.
- Collaborate with the Operations Coordinator and Shop Supervisor to maintain tools and equipment that support Natural Resources goals. Assess needs for fleet, facilities, procedures, and security and share with the Natural Resources Site Manager.
- Maintain regular communication with all CCNB departments regarding Natural Resources programs, Corpsmember performance, and interdepartmental initiatives.
- Provide short- and long-term coverage for Natural Resources crews during Crew Supervisor absences and perform essential Natural Resources Site Manager duties as needed.
- Ensure all NRC vehicles are locked and secured at the end of each workday.
- Unless special arrangements are made, the Natural Resources Safety and Training Coordinator maintains a 9/80 Schedule in accordance with the program’s needs.
