Provides expert naval architecture and engineering support for ship overhauls, repairs, and construction, ensuring compliance with NAVSEA standards and resolving complex technical issues.

You will provide highly skilled engineering support and serve as a regional technical authority.
You will serve as Naval Sea Systems Command representative for shipboard and in-shop technical assistance on problems beyond the capability of organizational level, Intermediate Maintenance Level Activities, and ship repair facilities.
You will provide naval architecture services in connection with overhaul and repair of major ship classes such as aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, frigates and construction of small boats.
You will provide engineering guidance in accordance with established NAVSEA Technical Authority policy and generate engineering products regarding reliability, configuration, and system performance.
You will serve as a naval architecture expert for the activity, acting as a naval architect specialist for the Command, and performing as the advisor relative to the naval architecture field in theory and design.
You will perform detailed engineering analysis as necessary to solve ship alterations and other problems in the naval architecture field where such problems require the services of an expert troubleshooter.
You will provide guidance and approval as to the acceptability of proposed substitute material and components based on contractor’s and subcontractor’s plans for fabrication of the substitute.
You will determine acceptability of laboratory tests performed by contractors, and establishment of engineering requirements and test standards for contractual specifications.
You will coordinate complex alterations with other engineers and technicians within the activity.
You will serve as a specialist and technical advisor for review and approval of detailed working plans prepared by contractor engineering staff for ships structures and arrangements.
You will make oral and written reports on technical topics to engineering technicians, engineers, supervisors, shipbuilding specialists, planners, contractors and Navy personnel.
