Navigational Aids(Nav Aid) Expert

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Navigational Aids (Nav Aid) Expert to lead the planning, review, and coordination of navigational aid systems for multiple airports owned by the Employer. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in the design, installation, calibration, maintenance, and certification of aviation navigational systems, with expert knowledge of ICAO Annex 10, DGCA/AAI Orders, and other relevant standards. This position requires a master’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering, aviation sector experience, and a proven track record of 16+ years in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose optimum locations for Navigational Aids (Navaids) at multiple airports to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with standards.
  • Review and evaluate proposals from AAI (Airports Authority of India) and consultants for the siting and installation of Navaids.
  • Provide technical recommendations to enhance the performance and reliability of Navaids.
  • Liaise with AAI and other relevant authorities for the installation, relocation, and certification of Navaids.
  • Act as the Employer’s representative in discussions and negotiations with stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project execution.
  • Coordinate with air traffic control, instrument approach designers, and airspace planners to ensure Navaids integration with operational procedures.
  • Apply expertise in design, installation, calibration, maintenance, and certification of aviation navigational systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ICAO Annex 10 (Aeronautical Telecommunications), DGCA/AAI Orders, and other relevant national and international standards for Navaids siting, performance, and certification.
  • Conduct technical assessments to ensure that all Navaids meet operational and safety requirements.
  • Ensure that Navaids are seamlessly integrated with air traffic control procedures, instrument approach design, and airspace planning.
  • Provide guidance on the operational requirements of Navaids to support safe and efficient air navigation.
  • Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and presentations for project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of Navaids installations, calibrations, and certifications for compliance and audit purposes.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electronics & Communication Engineering is mandatory.
  • 16+ years of professional experience in the aviation sector, with a focus on navigational aids.
  • Extensive experience in the design, installation, calibration, maintenance, or certification of aviation navigational systems.
  • Strong understanding of Navaids siting and operational requirements at airports.

Preferred Attributes

  • Expert knowledge of ICAO Annex 10, DGCA/AAI Orders, and other relevant national/international standards for Navaids.
  • Familiarity with the integration of Navaids with air traffic control procedures, instrument approach design, and airspace planning.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies used in Navaids design and calibration.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
