NCSR - DevOps Cloud Engineer

Location: Melbourne,Victoria,Australia

The DevOps Consultant is responsible for the development, deployment and configuration of Telstra Health ITC infrastructure and business solutions. The role is also responsible for unit testing the solution components, preparing deployment scripts and then supporting the deployed solution in a production environment.

The DevOps Consultant is an all-rounder with deep expertise in software development and configuration; and deep expertise in system administration and operations support.

The typical profile of a DevOps Consultant is that they are well versed in a broad range of technologies, can quickly learn or pick-up new and emerging technologies, and are very good problem solvers.

Sometimes, the DevOps Consultant will be seconded to various Telstra Health business solution projects, all typically featuring emerging products and technologies. The remaining time will be allocated to production support and sys admin activities. The allocation time can be adjusted as required to suite the needs of the Telstra Health business and operations.

Technical Descriptors:

Engineering

· Cloud computing technologies, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS such as Azure, AWS

· Virtual Network, Firewall and Load Balancer technologies

· Extensive experience with a variety of Microsoft tools and solutions (SQL, AD, DNS, GPO, IIS, WSUS, SCCM, etc.)

· In-depth knowledge experience with automated provisioning Linux and Windows in Microsoft Azure Cloud with XPlat CLI, JSON and Node.js

· Ability to develop Azure CLI and PowerShell automation scripts to provision VMs, VNETs, NSGs, Load Balancers, Resource groups

· Experience with Azure SDK for one of major development environments (Visual Studio)

· Experience managing Azure Availability Sets, Load Balancers and Network security groups

· Strong Windows and Linux (RedHat/CentOS) system administration experience

· Infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt, DSC, etc.

· Ability to setup and mange version control system (BitBucket, Git)

· Highly experienced with performance monitoring and logging solutions (Nagios, Splunk, LogStash, NxLog, Syslog)

· Central patch management for Windows and Linux: WSUS, YUM, Spacewalk/Satellite

· Understanding of Information Security standards and principles (ISM)

· Strongly versed in current and practical security technologies and configurations: IDS, IPS, Anti-virus, encryption, SSL, SSH, PKI

· Familiar with incident and change management processes and tools (Jira, Remedy)

· Thorough understanding and experience in the principles, procedures and practice of provisioning technologies, capacity planning, automation, system redundancy, archive, backup and recovery

· Highly experienced with highly available, clustering and distributed solutions including web, application and database load balancing and replication technologies

· Experienced with managing at least one of the databases MS SQL 2012, MongoDB, Cassandra, MySQL

· Experienced with at least one of the Web server frameworks Tomcat, Apache, Nginx, Microsoft IIS

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to communicate ideas and plans clearly and articulately with internal and external teams from various background and technical skill levels

Development

· Experience with a wide range of open source technologies and tools

· Solution architecture, able to create component solution diagrams and briefs

· Highly experienced working in large, enterprise scale development and integration environments

· Experience working in Agile projects

· Able to code/script in a wide range of languages (Ruby, BASH, Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, etc.)

· Familiar with continues integration tools such as Cucumber, Jenkins

· Familiar with Identity Management (e.g. Active Directory, SAML, OAUTH)
