The Fleet and Facilities Services Branch offers you an excellent opportunity where you can make a difference by utilizing your mechanical engineering and project management skills. Our Fleet Services Branch consists of a team of mechanics, engineers, technicians and support staff that maintain a fleet of over 3,500 vehicles across 12 garage locations within the City of Edmonton
This posting is for a Professional Engineer with CGSB Level II Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Certification as well as vehicle and equipment maintenance engineering experience.
What will you do?
- Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspections of fleet vehicles, equipment, and other structures, supporting legislative requirements
- Create NDT inspection reports and equipment certifications as required
- Manage NDT inspection records, oversee inspection process, and update inspection documents as required.
- Investigate equipment failures and develop corrective courses of action to reduce recurrence
- Develop and monitor a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for a diverse fleet
- Prepare in-depth engineering studies and reports and manage technical projects on various aspects of mobile equipment
- Provide technical advice to Fleet Services maintenance personnel on matters related to vehicle and equipment maintenance and services such as fueling, lubrication and warranty issues
- Design equipment and component modifications and develop custom fabrications for particular fleet operational needs; this may include providing engineering CAD drawings and calculations and/or engineering certification/authentication for modifications and designs
- Develop and conduct test programs for new equipment, products and technologies
- Assist the management team with program development and enhancement
- Provide knowledge to and oversight of Engineering Students as required
- Other duties as assigned
