About the Role
LMATS is seeking an NDT
Technician for our Bibra Lake office in Perth. Reporting to the State Manager,
you will design and prepare a range of onsite and laboratory-based testing
services, determining test arrangements and test loads in accordance with NATA
requirements. You will perform mechanical and metallurgical testing, attend
client sites, investigate test failures and prepare technical reports
documenting your findings.
Key Responsibilities
• Determine test arrangements and test loads in
accordance with client and NATA requirements.
• Select the appropriate test methods and organise the
equipment required for each test.
• Perform mechanical and metallurgical testing in
accordance with LMATS procedures and NATA requirements.
• Conduct conventional and advanced NDT inspections
across a range of engineering sectors.
• Maintain responsibility for all laboratory equipment,
including its maintenance and calibration.
• Undertake site inspections and liaise with clients to
understand their testing requirements.
• Review test failure data and conduct tests to establish
possible causes and recommend suitable solutions.
• Carry out root cause analysis and apply
learning-from-experience processes.
• Prepare clear technical reports documenting the
outcomes of tests.
• Travel locally and regionally to complete jobs at
client sites as required.
Skills
• Sound understanding of material properties, electronic
principles and applied mathematics.
• Competence in advanced NDT, condition monitoring,
structural health monitoring and quality management.
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and
international standards relevant to NDT.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving
capability.
• Technical report writing and computer literacy.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written
and verbal.
• Awareness of safety, environmental and quality
requirements in an engineering testing environment.
• Ability to work to NATA requirements and apply design
and materials-selection processes that meet NDT standards.
Experience
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience as an NDT
Technician.
• Demonstrated experience performing conventional and/or
advanced NDT in an industrial or laboratory setting.
• Experience liaising with clients and working to defined
testing standards and procedures.
• Experience preparing technical inspection or test
reports.
Qualifications
• Relevant AINDT certificates, or the ability to obtain
them (UT / MT / RT / PT Level 2, ISO 9712).
• A current Manual C-Class driver's licence.
• A positive attitude toward continuous professional
development.
