Summary

A dual-role at El Paso Children's Hospital combining Neonatal Program Coordinator duties — leading the NICU Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, analyzing performance trends, and ensuring Joint Commission compliance — with direct patient care as a Staff NICU RN delivering evidence-based nursing to neonatal patients on full-time day shifts.

The Neonatal Program Coordinator / Staff NICU RN is a dual-role position that combines program coordination responsibilities with direct patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The Neonatal Program Coordinator (NPC) reports directly to the Director of NICU and assists with coordinating the development, implementation, and evaluation of the NICU Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program directly in line with the Neonatal Levels of Care Designation in collaboration with the NICU program manager. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: supports the hospital’s Performance Improvement process; identifies performance trends; as well as prioritizes and recommends improvements to attain the standards set forth by Designation. The NPC also plays a supportive role in ensuring compliance with all The Joint Commission (TJC) standards. The NPC will investigate specific areas of concern as identified by the NICU leadership team for both NICU and hospital initiatives. The NPC provides leadership towards achieving compliance, and/or developing suitable alternatives that will meet regulatory requirements aligned with the hospital’s Mission and Values.

As Staff NICU RN, the role delivers high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to neonatal patients and their families, functioning as a patient safety advocate, health care team member, and nursing professional.
