Neonatologist - Full Time - Danbury, CT
SUMMARY
The Division of Neonatology at Connecticut Children’s is looking for a full-time, clinical neonatologist to provide service in the Level III NICU at Danbury Hospital. Danbury Hospital is a 456-bed acute care hospital which houses a remodeled 19-bed, single-room NICU covering a delivery service of 2000. The NICU is supported virtually by subspecialists with 24/7 access to echocardiography, EEG, and imaging. Neonatologists are teamed with neonatal physician assistants to provide coverage following an in-house model. Successful candidates will also be credentialed at 1-2 regional Level II or III NICU’s to provide cross coverage on an as needed basis.
Danbury, nicknamed “The Hat City” for its role in hat manufacturing in previous times, has a population of 90,000 and is located 50 miles northeast of New York City and a short distance from Candlewood Lake, the largest lake in Connecticut.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide assessment of patients by obtaining a comprehensive history.
- Examines patients to obtain objective physical data and supporting information through laboratory and imaging modalities.
- Formulate a differential diagnosis and develops a reasonable treatment plan to include pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and making appropriate referrals as indicated.
- Maintain ongoing documentation of patient interventions within the timeframe established by policy, to include documentation of initial assessment, treatment plans, progress notes and any other patient interactions, to include telephone calls.
- Collaborate with nursing, support personnel and administration in matters affecting patient care.
- Ensure the protection of patient rights and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Ensures appropriate handoff communications are accomplished.
- Responsible for teaching medical students, pediatric residents and neonatal fellows
- Initiate and/or participate in specific research or other scholarly activities.
- Academic title at the University of Connecticut will be commensurate with academic credentials.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: M.D., or D.O. degree required
Active Scholarly Program with publication history is desirable
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Active CT Physician license
Active DEA
Board eligible or certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine as appropriate.
