Network Administrator
Summary
Maintain and secure on-prem and cloud networks for an online gaming/casino operator, using Cisco, Azure, AWS, Terraform, and Palo Alto gear while ensuring 24x7 availability and compliance.
What you will be doing
- Administration / Engineering of the networking environment: ensure optimal configuration and performance of all network hardware and software.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Infosec, DevOps and Dev teams, actively providing assistance and proactively improving infrastructure to reduce operational costs and complexities.
- Perform maintenance on all relevant networking hardware and log systems for efficient troubleshooting.
- Securely back up all network equipment and configurations to a centralized repository to enable efficient recovery and continuity.
- Ensure effective monitoring is in place with appropriate escalation, continuously monitoring key performance metrics and logging deviations to trigger real-time alerts.
- Configure PagerDuty correctly, maintain standby roster, and adhere to the incident‑management process for production issues.
- Participate in the 24x7 standby rotated weekly.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure optimal configuration and performance of cloud deployments, providing guidance, reviewing deployments, and making cost‑optimisation suggestions.
- Work with Terraform, Azure and AWS networking, maintain vendor relationships, and keep hardware warranties and support contracts up to date.
- Collaborate with the Information Security team to ensure business protection, review changes, and adhere to SOX and ISO 27001 standards.
- Maintain and configure load balancers, and work with other teams to ensure the best configuration for every situation.
- Exposure to Cisco Switches/Routers (IOS/NXOS), Riverbed WAN Acceleration, A10 Networks load balancing, Palo Alto Firewalls (PANOS/ Panorama), Cisco Firewalls – ASA, Extreme Networking wireless controllers, Azure Virtual WAN/NW, Cloudflare Magic Transit, Site24x7, Observium and Scrutinizer Netflow analysis.
Essential Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, conveying complex ideas clearly.
- Experience collaborating in cross‑functional teams, delivering projects on time and within scope.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities.
- Relevant IT tertiary qualification and a relevant networking certification such as CCNA or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the IT industry.
- Proven understanding of switching, routing, firewall and load balancer technologies and Layer 2/3 networking protocols (VLAN, STP, MACSec, LACP, VRRP, HSRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC, NAT, PBR, SSLVPN).
- Proven knowledge of cloud provider networking.
- Experience configuring and deploying secure networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls).
Desirable Skills
- In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, betting types and trends.
- Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, understanding player behaviour and regulations.
- Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements across jurisdictions.
- Experience in customer retention strategies.
- Programming or scripting skills to automate routine tasks.
- Microsoft certifications.
