On-site Network Administrator at Fort Meade, MD configuring and securing Cisco, Juniper, and Dell network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers) while ensuring DoD cybersecurity compliance.

Job Description:

Location: Fort Meade, MD

Work Schedule: On-site, 5 days/week


Primary Responsibilities

Independently configures and optimizes network assets, including switches, load balancers, routers, and firewalls, to ensure reliable and secure operations

Performs proactive maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and timely updates, implementing robust security measures on Cisco, Juniper, and Dell network assets

Accurately creates and maintains comprehensive system documentation, and ensures configuration and change management efforts are executed efficiently and on schedule

Completes detailed checklists and proactively manages devices to ensure compliance with cybersecurity controls and implement required protective measures

Contributes technical expertise to global network architecture upgrade projects, providing strategic insight, detailed action plans, timeline projections, and assessments of resource requirements

Implements and monitors recurring security requirements on all network devices, ensuring ongoing protection and compliance with industry standards

Collaborates with external partners to coordinate and expedite troubleshooting efforts, ensuring timely resolution of complex network issues

Applies proficient system administration skills in both Linux and Windows environments to effectively manage and optimize network assets

Provides strategic architectural and network topology recommendations to drive operational efficiencies and enhance network performance

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline with 8+ years of overall related experience (additional years of experience may substitute for a degree)

Active DoD Top Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI

At least 3 years of Linux and/or Windows familiarity

Current CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification

Current DoD 8140 certification most common qualifying certs include: CEH, Security+, SecX, CCNA/CCNP Security (or other qualifying 8140 certs)


Preferred Qualifications

Experience integrating Network Management (NM) and Element Management (EM) systems with network performance, trouble ticketing, and security subsystems

Experience with a ticketing system such as BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, or ITSM

ITIL v3 Foundation certification

Experience working with virtual environments
