Network Architect (Permanent)
Summary
Permanent network architect role setting the APAC network vision, standards, and roadmap: owning solution design and architecture reviews, overseeing regional enterprise network, cloud connectivity, security, and traffic management, and leading projects end to end. Requires CCIE, 10-15 years of enterprise networking (BGP, SD-WAN, routing/switching) and platforms like Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5
Key Responsibilities
- Set the APAC network vision, target architecture, standards, and roadmap, while driving standardisation, resilience, automation, and reduction of technical debt.
- Own network solution design, architecture reviews, technical sign-off, and risk assessment to ensure security, scalability, resilience, and operational readiness.
- Provide oversight of the regional enterprise network, cloud connectivity, network security, and application traffic management.
- Define architecture standards and design principles that align with enterprise policy, security controls, audit expectations, and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead network projects from inception to handover, covering planning, resourcing, dependencies, vendors, risks, testing, migration, and cutover.
- Assess technologies and vendors, validate technical and commercial requirements, and drive cost efficiency, standardisation, and lower vendor dependency.
- Confirm readiness for go-live through testing, rollback planning, monitoring, support arrangements, and operational acceptance, and apply lessons learned to improve continuously.
- Mentor architects and senior engineers, govern design decisions, encourage knowledge sharing, and build a culture of engineering excellence and collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 10–15 years of enterprise networking experience, including significant architecture, design authority, or leadership roles.
- CCIE certified, with a track record of designing large-scale, highly available networks spanning data centre, campus, branch, WAN/SD-WAN, Internet, cloud, wireless, and security.
- Strong expertise in BGP, OSPF, routing and switching, QoS, multicast, VPN, high availability, segmentation, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, load balancing, and NAC.
- Hands-on architecture experience with Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, F5, Meraki, Zscaler, Cisco ISE, or comparable platforms.
- Experience integrating networks with cloud, SaaS, identity, security, monitoring, ITSM, and automation platforms.
- Solid grounding in architecture methodology, requirements analysis, options assessment, technical governance, risk management, and design documentation.
- Working knowledge of automation, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management, observability, and SRE principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, influence senior stakeholders, resolve technical disagreements, and explain complex topics clearly.
- Background in banking, financial services, or other regulated sectors preferred; familiarity with MAS TRM and regional regulations is an advantage.
