The Client & Role
Our client is an established New Zealand organisation looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join their internal IT team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving technical challenges and getting involved in network projects. You'll be working across a large, multi-site environment, supporting existing infrastructure while contributing to upgrades, improvements and new deployments.

The role will initially involve a mix of project delivery and BAU support, with the opportunity to become increasingly project-focused over time.

Working closely with the Network Architect and wider IT team, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work while continuing to develop your technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support, configure and maintain network infrastructure across multiple sites.
  • Deliver network upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues across routing, switching, wireless and WAN environments.
  • Support network security, firewalls and SD-WAN connectivity.
  • Work closely with internal teams, external vendors and service providers.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, configurations and technical procedures.
  • Assist with network monitoring, performance improvements and incident resolution.
  • Participate in an on-call roster and occasional site visits.
Key Requirements:
  • Around 5+ years' experience in network engineering, although strong intermediate candidates will also be considered.
  • Solid networking fundamentals across routing, switching, VLANs, LAN/WAN and wireless technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with networking technologies such as MikroTik, Aruba, Juniper, UniFi or Fortinet.
  • Good understanding of network security, firewalls and connectivity.
  • Experience delivering network projects, upgrades or migrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical tasks.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
