Network Engineer (apply only if you are a US Permananet Resident)
Summary
VsimplifyIT is placing a Network Engineer to support CalSTRS's IT infrastructure on-site in West Sacramento, CA (remote possible once approved). Day-to-day work is troubleshooting Cisco network operating systems, routing (BGP, VRF) and switching (VSS, spanning tree); a CCDP or CCNP certification and 5 years of experience are required. Open only to US permanent residents.
Job brief
We are seeking a Network Engineer to work on its IT infrastructure and operations.
The ideal candidate will have a Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or one of the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications, at least five years of experience troubleshooting and working with network operating systems, routing, switching, and spanning tree, and be able to work on-site at West Sacramento, CA (Remote possible once approved).
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and work with network operating systems, routing, and switching
- Have a Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or one of the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications
- Have at least five years of experience within the last ten years troubleshooting and working with network operating systems, routing, and switching
Must Have
1- A Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or one of the Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications as evidenced by a copy of the certificate.
2. At least five (5) years of experience within the last ten (10) years troubleshooting and working with:
a) Network Operating Systems (i.e., Cisco IOS, Cisco NXOS)
b) Routing including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF)
c) Switching- Virtual Switching System (VSS), Spanning Tre
Desirable Technical Qualifications
It is desirable for the proposed project person to have the following listed experience, knowledge, skills and abilities evidenced:
1. A Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) or one of the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certifications. CalSTRS reserves the right to request a copy of the certifications.
2. Experience with Cisco wireless technology including Wireless LAN Control (WLC) configuration and Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
3. Experience with SD-WAN configuration and troubleshooting.
4. Experience with Quality of Service (QoS) configuration.
5. Working knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Service Management, Change Management business practices.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. At least five (5) years of experience within the last ten (10) years troubleshooting and working with:
a) Identity Services Engine (ISE).
b) Palo Alto Networks (PAN) Firewalls.
c) Cloud service provider (i.e., AWS, Azure) and co-location services networking (i.e.,
Equinix).
