The Network Engineer, Infrastructure & Disaster Recovery is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organisation’s enterprise network infrastructure across primary, disaster-recovery and approved cloud environments. The Network Engineer ensures reliable, secure and resilient network connectivity by administering network devices and services, monitoring performance, resolving incidents, implementing approved changes and maintaining network recovery readiness.

Network Infrastructure Administration

Administer, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, wireless and data-centre network environments.

Configure and support switches, routers, wireless infrastructure and related network services in accordance with approved designs and standards.

Maintain routing, switching, network segmentation, connectivity and redundancy configurations.

Network Security and Secure Connectivity

Administer enterprise firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, remote-access VPNs and secure-connectivity services within the assigned operational scope.

Maintain approved firewall rules, network objects, security zones, network address translation and segmentation controls.

Support periodic firewall-rule and network-access reviews in coordination with Cybersecurity.

Network Monitoring and Performance

Monitor network availability, performance, traffic utilisation and capacity across network devices, wireless infrastructure, firewalls and connectivity services.

Diagnose and resolve network outages, latency, packet loss, congestion, routing instability and wireless-connectivity issues.

Analyse logs, traffic flows, interface statistics and packet captures to identify faults and recurring performance problems.

Cloud and Hybrid Network Support

Maintain approved cloud and hybrid-network connectivity, including virtual networks, gateways, routing, network-security configurations and private connectivity.

Monitor cloud-network connections, routes, throughput and service availability.

Troubleshoot hybrid routing, VPN, private-connectivity and name-resolution issues.

Network Resilience and Disaster Recovery

Maintain network recovery procedures, configuration backups and technical runbooks for critical network services.

Support the recovery of switching, routing, WAN, internet, firewall, VPN, wireless and hybrid-connectivity services.

Validate routing, redundant devices, firewall availability, connectivity and service restoration following recovery.

Incident, Change and Lifecycle Management

Provide technical support for network incidents and restore services in accordance with approved operational priorities.

Conduct root-cause analysis for significant or recurring network incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Implement network changes through approved testing, validation, rollback and change-management procedures.

Documentation and Technical Coordination

Maintain network topology diagrams, device inventories, circuit records, IP-address information and configuration documentation.

Maintain operating procedures, troubleshooting guides and disaster-recovery runbooks.

Coordinate incidents, maintenance activities and technical support with internal teams, telecommunications providers and technology vendors.
