Network Engineer
About Federal Group
Working in one of Tasmania's most stunning locations, on the waterfront just outside the Hobart CBD at Wrest Point, you'll join our motivated and experienced Technology team.
At Federal Group, our Technology team is anything but traditional. We're a forward-thinking, collaborative team that recognises technology is fundamental to keeping our people, properties and guests connected across a diverse portfolio of hospitality, tourism and entertainment businesses.
We're seeking an experienced Network Engineer to help maintain, support and evolve our enterprise network environment. This role offers the opportunity to work across both operational and project-based initiatives, contributing to the reliability, security and ongoing improvement of critical business infrastructure.
What can you expect from a day in this role?
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining, supporting and enhancing our enterprise network environment across multiple locations. You will work closely within the networks team, reporting to the Network Team Lead who will guide you across initiatives, continuous improvement and operational work.
You'll work across a broad range of activities, ensuring our network infrastructure remains secure, reliable and fit for purpose. From troubleshooting complex issues and supporting business-critical systems through to delivering network improvements and upgrades, you'll play an important role in keeping our business connected.
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, can adapt to changing priorities and is comfortable working in an environment where plans may evolve as business needs change.
Key Responsibilities
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day management, support and optimisation of Federal Group's enterprise network infrastructure. This includes monitoring network performance, troubleshooting complex issues, maintaining technical standards and working closely with stakeholders to support business operations.
You'll also contribute to the ongoing evolution of our technology environment through infrastructure upgrades, project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives. Working alongside colleagues, vendors and technology partners, you'll help identify opportunities to enhance our network capability while providing technical expertise and support across the broader Technology team.
What will you bring to the role?
You will be an experienced Network Engineer with strong technical capability, a practical mindset and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
To be successful, you'll bring:
• Demonstrated experience in a Network Engineer position within a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong hands-on experience working with Cisco and Meraki technologies.
• Solid knowledge of routing, switching, wireless networking and network security.
• Experience supporting and maintaining critical business infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
• Confidence working in environments where ambiguity exists and flexibility is required.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach and commitment to delivering outcomes.
What can you expect from us?
At Federal Group, we're passionate about creating an environment where our people can do their best work. You'll join a supportive and collaborative team that values expertise, innovation and continuous improvement.
You will also receive:
• Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid work options.
• The opportunity to work across some of Tasmania's most recognised hospitality, tourism and entertainment brands.
• Exposure to a diverse and complex technology environment.
• Delicious free staff meals available during each work day and free secure onsite parking at Wrest Point.
• Access to hundreds of discounts across a wide range of brands, helping you save on everyday expenses including fuel, groceries, phone plans, fashion, restaurants and entertainment.
• Ongoing learning, development and professional growth opportunities.
• Employee benefits and discounts across Federal Group businesses.
• A supportive culture that encourages collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
