D-ploy is hiring an L2/L3 network engineer in Ghent to support enterprise LAN/WAN operations for a global life sciences client, handling day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across firewalls, routing, switching, wireless, VPNs, and SD-WAN. Core stack: Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco Meraki.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced L2/L3 Network Engineer to support enterprise LAN and WAN operations for a global life sciences organization in Ghent.
The role focuses on day-to-day network operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement across a multi-site international environment.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks and Cisco Meraki, and is comfortable operating across both operational support and engineering-level responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support enterprise LAN and WAN operations across a multi-site environment
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across firewalls, routing, switching, wireless, VPNs, and SD-WAN
- Manage and support Palo Alto firewall configurations, including policies, NAT, VPNs, and troubleshooting
- Operate and support Cisco Meraki environments, including dashboard management, SD-WAN, switching, and wireless
- Contribute to network stability, performance, security, and continuous improvement
- Work closely with international teams and stakeholders
- Support monitoring, incident resolution, documentation, and operational best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering or network support
- Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including:
- Security policies
- NAT
- VPNs
- Troubleshooting
- Strong experience with Cisco Meraki, including:
- Meraki Dashboard
- SD-WAN
- Switching
- Wireless
- Solid understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- Routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
- Network segmentation
- Network security principles
- Experience with WAN technologies, internet breakouts, and cloud connectivity
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies
- Proven troubleshooting skills in complex, multi-site environments
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Auvik, SolarWinds, Datadog, or similar
- Comfortable working in an international environment
- Ability to provide a criminal record extract not older than three months, where required for the role
Nice to Have
- Experience with SASE platforms such as Palo Alto Prisma, Cato, or similar
- Exposure to cloud networking in Azure or AWS
- Basic knowledge of QoS, traffic shaping, and application performance
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, Meraki CMNA, or CMNP are considered a plus
