Network Engineer II (Operations Team)

Join Expedia Group’s Infrastructure & Enterprise Engineering team, where we’re developing AI Ops, automation and advanced telemetry solutions to operate and optimise our hybrid data centre and enterprise network infrastructure.
We enable secure, resilient and scalable systems across cloud, data centre, office and remote users—partnering closely with cloud, security, and platform teams to keep travel moving through intelligent operations.
As a Network Engineer II, you’ll join a new team of engineers to support the operation of automated, data-driven infrastructure. You’ll lead well-defined tasks and mentor juniors, applying automation, observability and vendor solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency. You’ll own troubleshooting production issues, contribute to building self-healing systems, and learn how we design for scale, resilience and security—whilst being encouraged to ask questions, propose ideas, and challenge the status quo.
What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of day-to-day operational tasks for enterprise and data centre networks.
- Implement and validate network changes.
- Organise and implement periodic LODO tasks, including software upgrades, patching, failover testing, and network health audits.
- Monitor intake channels, responding as required.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues, leading resolution for majority of issues.
- Help maintain network documentation, diagrams, and runbooks.
- Continuously learn and build knowledge of our infrastructure, tools, and standards.
- Drive the development of monitoring tools and related automation to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Be a core contributor in the development of automation for LODO tasks.
- Be a core contributor in developing AIOps capabilities, including data ingestion, pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
Who You Are
- 3+ years’ experience in network engineering, infrastructure, or a related technical role.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Relevant certification such as Palo Alto Cybersecurity Practitioner, Arista ACE Level 2, Cisco CCNP, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or similar networking/cloud credentials.
- Experience with network implementations or deployments into production (e.g., projects, internships, or professional roles).
- Ability to configure enterprise-grade network hardware.
- Good knowledge of routing and switching (e.g., OSPF, BGP, VLANs, subnets, ACLs, NAT)
- Good understanding of wireless networking, including RF planning and tuning.
- Good understanding of physical and virtual networking concepts and how they interoperate.
- Knowledge of public or hybrid cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with more than one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Go).
- Knowledge of NGFWs, Secure Web Gateways, Zero Trust Network Access (e.g., Palo Alto FWs, Zscaler ZIA/ZPA)
- Ability to work independently and effectively to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Be prepared to participate in weekend on-call rotation.
- Experience with cloud networking (VPCs, security groups, gateways, load balancers).
- Knowledge of network observability tools and applications (e.g., NetFlow/IPFIX, SNMP, APIs, Datadog, Logic Monitor, Catchpoint).
- Knowledge of network automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience in PKI Infrastructure/certificate lifecycle management.
- Experience with post incident investigations.
- Demonstrated interest in emerging networking and cloud trends and growing your expertise over time.
