Network Engineer L1/ L2
Description
Role & responsibilities - Will be promoted to L2 upon proven steady skill-growth
1. End-User Support & Incident Management
Own the first line of IT support across all sites - desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and peripherals. Log, triage, and resolve tickets within agreed SLA windows. Escalate only what genuinely needs it, not what's just unfamiliar.
2. Network Administration (L1)
Monitor LAN/WAN links, switches, APs, and VLANs across Alfeco sites. Perform basic switch config changes, port provisioning, and VLAN assignments under supervision. Identify and report anomalies (link drops, high error rates, rogue devices) before users feel the impact.
3. User Account & Access Management
Create, modify, and decommission user accounts in Microsoft 365 (Entra ID / AD). Enforce the principle of least privilege. Handle MFA setup, password resets, and shared mailbox provisioning without delay.
4. Asset & Inventory Management
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date register of all hardware and software licences. Track device assignments, warranty status, and end-of-life cycles. Flag procurement needs before they become outages.
5. Site Readiness & Cabling Awareness
Support structured cabling tasks, patch panel labelling, and equipment rack organisation. Know the difference between what can be self-handled and what needs a certified contractor.
6. Documentation & Knowledge Base
Write clear, reusable resolution notes for every ticket. Build and maintain basic runbooks so common issues don't require the same troubleshooting twice.
7. Security Hygiene at the Endpoint
Ensure antivirus, OS patches, and endpoint policies are applied across managed devices. Report non-compliant machines.
