Network Engineer - Level 2

We are seeking an experienced Network & Systems Engineer to join a leading telecommunications environment, supporting National Emergency Warning System (NEWS) and Cell Broadcast Centre (CBC) platforms.

This role involves providing Level 2 technical support, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and ensuring the reliability and performance of critical telecommunications systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L2 support across NEWS/CBC platforms.
• Troubleshoot Linux, networking, server and infrastructure issues.
• Manage incidents, escalations and fault resolution within SLAs.
• Support Cisco switches, Check Point firewalls and F5 load balancers.
• Perform system upgrades, maintenance and performance optimisation.
• Develop automation scripts and improve operational processes.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors and engineering teams.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call support roster.

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in Network Engineering, Systems Administration or Infrastructure Support.
• Strong experience with Red Hat Linux (RHEL).
• Hands-on knowledge of Cisco, Check Point firewalls and F5.
• Experience with physical/virtual servers, ideally HPE.
• Knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Scripting experience with Bash, Python or Perl.
• Strong IP networking, troubleshooting and incident management skills.
• Telecommunications or managed services experience highly regarded.
• Ability to complete a Police Clearance Check.
