Network Engineer
Summary
A senior network engineer at Nutrien (an agriculture company) based in Saskatoon who designs, implements, and supports global core network services — backbone, data center, shared services, and Cisco CUCM voice — including upgrades, migrations, vendor/lifecycle management, and NOC escalation troubleshooting on Cisco platforms (NX-OS, IOS XE/XR, Meraki).
What You'll Do:
- Lead the support and continuous improvement of global core network services, including backbone, data center, shared services, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) environments, to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing connectivity across the enterprise.
- Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and support of network solutions for both new and existing environments, with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Own or oversee lifecycle activities for core network hardware and software assets, including purchasing, sparing, licensing, maintenance, and refresh planning.
- Partner closely with business units, regional Information Technology (IT), Network Operations, and other infrastructure teams to prioritize demand, align delivery timelines, and ensure effective service outcomes.
- Lead and coordinate on-site and remote implementations, upgrades, migrations, and remediation activities, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruption to business operations.
- Act as an escalation point for the Network Operations Center (NOC), providing advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution support for complex network and voice issues.
- Lead or contribute to proof-of-concept evaluations, technical validations, and vendor engagements to assess emerging technologies and their fit within enterprise architecture standards.
- Plan and deliver network components for large and complex projects, including remote site deployments, data center initiatives, core infrastructure upgrades, and telephony or collaboration changes.
- Ensure core network and voice services are aligned with security standards, company policies, and industry best practices, including adherence to governance, change management, and operational controls.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, regional teams, strategic vendors, and external partners to support successful delivery and long-term service reliability.
- Maintain accurate and current technical documentation, including network diagrams, configuration standards, implementation records, operational procedures, and support runbooks.
