Salary: RM 5,500 – RM 8,000 per month

About the role

This role provides first-line operational support for the networks used by a customer GPU data centre. The engineer monitors management, service, storage and GPU fabric connectivity, performs initial diagnosis and approved routine tasks, and escalates complex faults to L2/L3 engineers, carriers or vendors. The position suits a fresh graduate or junior engineer with strong networking fundamentals who wants practical experience supporting high-speed Ethernet and InfiniBand environments under a managed services model.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor management networks, service networks, storage connectivity and GPU interconnect fabrics using the customer network and fabric monitoring platforms.

  • Monitor routers, Ethernet switches, InfiniBand switches, firewalls, WAN links and out-of-band management connectivity where these are included in the support scope.

  • Respond to network and fabric alerts within the agreed service levels and operational procedures.

  • Perform first-level troubleshooting using approved tools such as ping, traceroute, DNS checks, interface status checks and fabric health dashboards.

  • Identify basic faults such as link failure, port flap, interface error, packet loss, high utilisation, CRC or FEC errors, transceiver alarms, incorrect cabling and device unavailability.

  • Check device health, interface status, power, environmental alarms and event logs before escalating an incident.

  • Perform approved routine tasks such as port status checks, port enablement, VLAN verification, configuration backup and log collection under an authorised procedure.

  • Trace and patch fibre, copper, DAC and AOC connections, confirm port and asset labels, and replace approved cables or transceivers under a work order.

  • Support network device installation, rack and stack and structured cabling activities under supervision.

  • Coordinate with system engineers to identify whether a GPU node issue is caused by the host, network interface, cable, switch port or upstream fabric.

About you

  • Diploma or bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.

  • Fresh graduates and candidates with up to two years of network support, network operations centre or data centre experience.

  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, VLANs, switching, routing and link aggregation.

  • Basic knowledge of DHCP, DNS, NAT and common network troubleshooting methods.

  • Ability to use ping, traceroute, nslookup and interface status information to investigate common connectivity issues.

  • Basic understanding of fibre and copper cabling, patch panels, transceivers, DAC and AOC connections.

  • Ability to read basic network diagrams, rack elevations, port maps and cable schedules.

  • Ability to follow procedures and escalation paths carefully in a controlled production environment.

  • Working proficiency in English. Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin is an advantage for customer communication.

  • Clear communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
