Network Engineer - Remote (APAC)

Spoiler: This is where your next big move begins.

What this Journey Looks Like

We are looking for a Mid-Level Network Engineer to support the enterprise network environment of a leading Canadian client.

This role is primarily focused on the hands-on administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of Palo Alto firewalls and F5 BIG-IP load balancers. Experience with Cisco routing and switching is valuable but secondary to strong firewall and load-balancing expertise.

The successful candidate will help maintain the stability, security, performance, and availability of critical production systems while contributing to infrastructure upgrades and improvement initiatives.

What You'll Lead and Build

  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls.

  • Create and maintain firewall security policies, objects, object groups, NAT rules, and VPN configurations.

  • Investigate firewall incidents, perform health checks, and support troubleshooting and remediation activities.

  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot F5 BIG-IP load balancers.

  • Support virtual servers, pools, pool members, health monitors, traffic policies, and related F5 services.

  • Use Panorama to manage Palo Alto devices, policies, templates, logging, and operational activities.

  • Support enterprise LAN, WAN, and data-center network environments.

  • Configure and troubleshoot Cisco network technologies, including routers, switches, Nexus, and ACI.

  • Handle business-as-usual network operations, including:

    • Incident investigation and resolution

    • Escalation management

    • Change requests

    • Troubleshooting and remediation

    • Performance and availability monitoring

  • Participate in root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Assist with network implementations, upgrades, migrations, patching, and infrastructure improvement projects.

  • Maintain accurate configurations, procedures, network diagrams, and inventory documentation.

  • Follow network security best practices and support audit and compliance activities.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal IT teams, vendors, and other technical stakeholders.

  • Participate in rotational on-call support after completing the required training and onboarding period.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, network administration, or a comparable infrastructure role.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto firewalls.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting F5 BIG-IP load balancers.

  • Experience supporting production environments and resolving network incidents and escalations.

  • Experience working within formal change-management processes.

  • Understanding of network security principles and compliance practices.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • TCP/IP

    • DNS and DHCP

    • VLANs

    • VPNs

    • Firewall and NAT policies

    • Network monitoring and performance analysis

  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Availability to work Eastern Time hours during the first six to nine months of training and onboarding.

  • Availability to participate in rotational on-call coverage after becoming fully trained.

Candidates should clearly describe where and how they used Palo Alto and F5 technologies in their employment history. Listing these technologies only in a skills section will not be sufficient.

Examples should include the configurations performed, operational responsibilities handled, incidents resolved, and environments supported.

Highly Preferred

  • Hands-on experience using Palo Alto Panorama for centralized firewall and policy management.

  • Current or recently renewed CCNA or CCNP certification.

  • Experience supporting Cisco Nexus or Cisco ACI environments.

  • Experience working in enterprise data-center environments.
