This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced network engineer supporting customer implementations within a global cloud infrastructure environment.
You will lead network deployment activities throughout customer onboarding, ensuring technical quality, reliability, and a strong customer experience.
The role combines hands-on engineering with network design, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational support.
You will work across technologies including Cisco networking, firewalls, load balancers, IPsec VPNs, virtualization, and software-defined networking.
The position offers exposure to enterprise customers, complex cloud environments, and global data center operations.
You will also help improve deployment processes and automate repetitive network tasks to increase consistency and efficiency.
Primarily aligned with Pacific Time business hours, the role suits an autonomous engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges.
Accountabilities:
- Lead network deployment activities during customer onboarding, maintaining accountability for technical delivery, quality, timelines, and customer experience.
- Deploy, configure, manage, and troubleshoot network environments involving switches, firewalls, load balancers, IPsec VPNs, and related infrastructure.
- Design and architect network topologies for diverse customer and cloud environments, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and reliable.
- Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional delivery teams to complete implementation activities and resolve technical dependencies.
- Support advanced customer issues alongside technical account management and support teams, providing hands-on engineering expertise when needed.
- Document implementation work, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting activities in ticketing and knowledge-management systems.
- Maintain and improve network deployment processes as technologies, architectures, and access requirements evolve.
- Provide technical ownership for assigned cloud network systems and contribute to operational reliability and service quality.
- Automate network deployments, validation, and operational tasks to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and increase delivery efficiency.
- Stay current with Cisco, VMware, cloud networking, and related technologies while pursuing relevant professional certifications.
- Participate in occasional scheduled after-hours activities, including customer cutovers, migrations, and other critical implementation work.
- Follow established security, privacy, compliance, data-handling, and operational policies while collaborating effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of recent, hands-on experience as a Cisco network engineer within a managed services, IaaS, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies such as BGP, IPsec, network segmentation, VRFs, switching, VLANs, and load balancing.
- Experience with VMware virtualization clusters and software-defined networking; VMware NSX experience is preferred.
- Experience working within global data center environments and deploying virtual network appliances.
- Familiarity with platforms and technologies such as Cisco, Fortigate, Palo Alto, Netscaler, F5, SonicWall, and Juniper Networks is advantageous.
- CCNP or CCIE certification, supported by relevant hands-on experience, is preferred.
- Ability to design, deploy, troubleshoot, and optimize complex network configurations with a high degree of independence.
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers, project managers, and cross-functional service delivery teams.
- Ability to automate network deployments and operational processes to improve reliability and reduce repetitive work.
- Strong documentation, communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable working remotely and managing priorities in a service-delivery environment where customer timelines and technical quality are critical.
- Willingness to participate in scheduled after-hours work for migrations, cutovers, and other implementation activities.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
