Network Engineer

Summary

Senior Network Engineer designing and supporting secure on-premises and hybrid-cloud networks for a government department, covering switching, routing, firewalls, DNS, and DHCP.

Salary: $130 - $160 per hour

Our client, a highly critical Government Department is looking for a Senior Network Engineer for an initial contract until 30 June 2028 with a possibility of extension for a further 12 months.

In this role you will perform the following tasks but not limited to:
  • Design and implement secure, resilient on-premises and hybrid-cloud networks.
  • Monitor performance and resolve complex network incidents and emergencies.
  • Configure and maintain switching, routing, firewalls, DNS and DHCP services.
  • Strengthen network security through patching, hardening and risk management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors and telecommunications partners.
To be successful you must have the following skills / experiences:
  • Five or more years of experience designing and supporting enterprise networks.
  • Strong knowledge of VLANs, trunking, Spanning Tree, BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience with firewalls, DNS, DHCP and hybrid-cloud networking.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network and application performance issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder, vendor and non-technical communication skillss
  • NV1 clearance.
You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible to apply. This is a Canberra-based role. Flexible/hybrid options are available, subject to agreement with the Hiring Manager. Generally, an office presence is expected 2–3 days per week. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are encouraged to apply.
