Network Engineer T4 (Lead)

The Network Engineer T4 (Lead) is a key personnel position responsible for providing the highest level of network engineering expertise in support of the CLIENT's enterprise IT environment. This individual serves as the senior escalation point for all network-related issues and leads the design, engineering, integration, and operations of CLIENT's enterprise network infrastructure. The Network Engineer T4 (Lead) works closely with the Contractor Program Manager, NOC/Service Desk Manager, and government stakeholders to ensure a stable, secure, and well-integrated enterprise network.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Engineering & Operations:
Lead Tier 4 network engineering, design, integration, and operations across CLIENT's enterprise environment
Manage and optimize LAN/WAN, routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, and network security fabric
Serve as the senior escalation point for complex, cross-domain network incidents and problems
Execute complex network changes and integrations in accordance with ITIL 4 change management practices
Support 24x7 NOC operations through on-call availability and documented escalation procedures
Cloud & Hybrid Network Integration:
Support integration of on-premises and cloud network infrastructure across AWS commercial, AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Government, and Microsoft 365 environments
Lead SD-WAN design and operational support across CLIENT's geographically distributed enterprise environment
Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to ensure reliable cloud connectivity and performance
Leadership & Knowledge Management:
Lead and mentor network engineering team members
Maintain and update network documentation, diagrams, and knowledge base articles in the ITSM platform
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for network operations and escalation
Support cross-training efforts to ensure coverage continuity across the network engineering team
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 8–10 years of hands-on enterprise network engineering experience
Demonstrated experience in a Federal or private-sector enterprise environment of comparable scale, complexity, and security posture
Proven experience leading network engineering operations at enterprise scale, including 24x7 environments
Experience with complex network change execution, including integration projects across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
Technical Expertise:
Expert-level proficiency in:
Enterprise LAN/WAN architecture and operations
Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Switching technologies (VLANs, STP, port aggregation)
Wireless enterprise networking
SD-WAN design and operations
Network security fabric and firewall management
Strong working knowledge of:
AWS and Azure cloud networking
Zero Trust Network Architecture
Network monitoring and event management tools
ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow)
Required Certifications (Must be current and unexpired throughout performance):
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) – Enterprise Infrastructure or Security OR
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Enterprise or Security (minimum)
Additional preferred certifications:
AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty
Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent)
