Network engineer
Salary: RM 5,000 – RM 7,000 per month
About the role
The Network Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and managing Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Software-Define Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) and telecommunications infrastructure for the company and its subsidiaries. This role involves configuring and maintaining network hardware and software, ensuring network security and integrity, monitoring network performance, and troubleshooting network issues.
Key responsibilities
Plan, design, and manage LAN, WAN, SD-WAN and telecommunications infrastructure for company and its subsidiaries
Configure and maintain network hardware and software, ensuring network security and integrity
Manage and control daily operations of network infrastructure inclusive of switches, routers, access points, wireless controller, SD-WAN appliances, network load balancer and internet link
Monitor network performance and guarantee peak performance for company and its subsidiaries
Maintain network hardware and equipment like routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
Troubleshoot network problems and outages for company and its subsidiaries
Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on networking devices to fix security vulnerabilities
Manage network infrastructure service requests and change requests
Document network operational procedures and develop disaster recovery plans
Provide end-user technical assistance and collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues
About you
Higher Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
At least 8 years of experience in network security
Solid understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, routing and switching technologies
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices such as routers, switches and firewalls
Strong knowledge of administration and configuration of network switches and routers
Good team player who is passionate about self-improvement and quality of work
Ability to communicate effectively with end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues
Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia with good communication and interpersonal skills
