Network Engineer
Summary
Second-level Network Engineer supporting enterprise infrastructure: troubleshooting complex L2/L3 issues, leading upgrades and Azure migrations, and administering FortiGate firewalls, SD-WAN, Juniper switching (Junos, Mist, EVPN/VXLAN), and Azure cloud networking, while mentoring junior staff.
About the role
Join the network engineering team as a skilled, solutions-focused Network Engineer responsible for second-level support, complex troubleshooting, infrastructure projects, and forward-thinking network improvements. You will act as an escalation point for the Network Administrator while supporting enterprise network infrastructure, Azure cloud networking, network security, and operational performance.
Key responsibilities
Provide second-level troubleshooting and issue resolution across enterprise networking environments.
Lead network infrastructure projects, including upgrades, implementations, hybrid cloud configuration, and virtual machine migration to Azure.
Configure and support OSPF, BGP, VLANs, RSTP, and LACP across enterprise routing and switching environments.
Administer FortiGate next-generation firewall configurations, SD-WAN, IPsec VPNs, FortiGate Security Fabric, and IT/OT convergence initiatives.
Perform detailed log and debug analysis using FortiAnalyzer and SolarWinds for network analytics and reporting.
Develop, maintain, and manage Junos configurations on Juniper EX and QFX series switches.
Maintain and optimise Azure networking, including virtual networks, ExpressRoute, and Microsoft 365 management.
Conduct advanced Layer 2 and Layer 3 network troubleshooting across hardware, software, and network environments.
Support Juniper Mist Campus infrastructure, EVPN, VXLAN, and Mist Campus Fabric technologies.
Manage Cambium platforms and cnMaestro environments where required.
Mentor and support junior network staff, including the Network Administrator.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience with OSPF, BGP, VLANs, and enterprise routing and switching.
Advanced configuration and troubleshooting experience with FortiGate next-generation firewalls.
Strong hands-on knowledge of Junos configuration and operations, LACP, and RSTP.
Proficiency in Azure networking fundamentals, hybrid cloud configuration, virtual machine migration to Azure, and Microsoft 365 management.
Experience with log analysis, network security principles, and IPsec VPNs.
Familiarity with Juniper QFX, Mist Campus infrastructure, EVPN, VXLAN, and Mist Campus Fabric.
Knowledge of Cambium platforms and cnMaestro.
Understanding of FortiAnalyzer, FortiGate, SolarWinds, networking concepts, and IT/OT convergence.
Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across hardware, software, and network environments.
