Network Security Engineer

Salary: $150 – $170 per hour

Informatech is a 100% Australian-owned ICT consultancy supporting Federal Government and Defence clients. We’re looking for a Senior Network Security Technician to join a major Defence program delivering integrated, cyber-worthy ICT systems to the Royal Australian Navy, supporting both deployed operations and day-to-day administration.

You’ll work within a technical team, with direct hands-on responsibility for the design, build and transition of cyber security solutions.

This role can be offered as either a contract or permanent opportunity.

What you’ll be doing

• Contributing directly to the design, build, deployment and transition of cyber security solutions aligned with best practice and Defence security policies, principles and frameworks

• Working with internal and external technical teams to integrate cyber security tools with ICT services across the program’s technology stack

• Conducting build and deployment activities and supporting remediation of cyber toolsets

• Authoring, reviewing and maintaining Solution Designs, Standard Operating Procedures, As-Built-As-Configured documentation and other required artefacts

• Working autonomously on highly complex problems, communicating technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and assessing risk mitigations and the implications of new technologies

What you’ll bring

• Demonstrated experience applying cyber security controls and practices aligned to zero-trust architecture principles

• Strong knowledge of and experience deploying and integrating Fortinet products, including FortiManager, FortiGate, FortiNAC and FortiAnalyzer

• Strong knowledge of Nutanix, VMware and Elastic

• Experience working in Defence

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team, lead integrated technical teams, and apply strong communication, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills

Highly regarded

• Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)

• Experience with ADF deployed environments or platforms, and their unique networking, support and security constraints

• Knowledge of the ISM, DSPF, PSPF and NIST frameworks
