Summary

Sierra7 is hiring a Network & Systems Administrator to run high-availability federal production platforms: designing cloud/hybrid infrastructure, enforcing FedRAMP and NIST compliance, handling patching, monitoring, incident response, and Drupal hosting. Requires 8 years of systems engineering, with 3+ years in cloud or hybrid environments; hybrid role reporting to Arlington, VA.

The Network & Systems Administrator will manage the high-availability federal production platforms, ensure top-tier system performance, and protect critical infrastructure against emerging threats.

This role sits at the center of our technology strategy, where you integrate complex cloud environments, maintain strict security standards, and empower our teams with reliable, seamless systems. Your expertise guarantees operational excellence and sustains public trust in the platforms we build.

This position is classified as Hybrid/remote with the ability to report to Arlington, Virginia, and Government-directed mission locations when required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and integrates robust cloud infrastructure and platform solutions to support cross-platform operations and meet organizational goals.
  • Architects scalable systems and optimizes overall platform performance to ensure high availability and speed.
  • Enforces security and compliance frameworks, incorporating FedRAMP and NIST standards into daily operations.
  • Maintains federal production platforms, adhering strictly to availability and incident-response requirements.
  • Executes log monitoring, event analysis, alerting, and root-cause analysis to build and manage clear operational dashboards.
  • Coordinates seamlessly with Government hosting providers and enterprise service organizations to streamline service delivery.
  • Controls configuration, release, vulnerability, patch, and change management processes to minimize risk and maximize uptime.
  • Manages Drupal hosting architecture and its specific dependencies to deliver secure and stable web environments.
  • Applies ITIL best practices and communicates effectively during incidents to provide clear documentation and rapid resolution.

  • Demonstrates extensive experience supporting federal production platforms under strict availability and incident-response requirements.
  • Shows a proven track record in cloud infrastructure and platform integration, systems architecture, and performance optimization.
  • Proves hands-on experience with log monitoring, event analysis, alerting, root-cause analysis, and operational dashboards.
  • Brings active experience coordinating with Government hosting providers and enterprise service organizations.
  • Manages configuration, release, vulnerability, patch, and change management within enterprise environments.
  • Possesses deep knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, specifically FedRAMP and NIST.
  • Understands Drupal hosting architecture, dependencies, and cross-platform integration strategies.
  • Applies ITIL principles to improve IT service management and operational workflows.
  • Communicates with exceptional clarity, producing strong documentation and precise incident-communication reports.

Education & Experience:

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or brings equivalent professional experience.
  • 8 years of systems-engineering experience.
    • At least 3 years supporting cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Holds relevant cloud-platform, network, security, or systems-administration credentials appropriate to the proposed environment.
  • Leads complex technical migrations and security audits within federal or heavily regulated sectors.
