FOR USE BY IT AND HSIS ONLY\: The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a NETWORK TECHNICIAN II-ENT to manage moderately complex tasks typically relating to network monitoring, operations, installation and/or maintenance. This position will commit to fostering an environment of heightened security following Information Technology Security Policies and participating in security training, such as Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), on an annual basis.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following\:
- Installation and maintenance of Cisco VoIP phone and Cisco gateway.
- Installation and maintenance of network switches, wireless access point, and data connection for end user's devices.
- Installation and maintenance of fiber network.
- Installation and maintenance of APC UPS Backup Battery devices and management interface.
- Installation and maintenance of UAB help phone.
- Will be required to work with Network Engineering, Communication Engineering, and Communication Analyst teams to complete or troubleshoot tasks. Additional duties as needed or assigned. Position is part of team of different level of network technician staff that support over 2329 network devices, 3375 Wi-Fi access points, and 9200 phone sets. This position is required to participate in an on-call rotation and may require overtime hours as needed.
