Network Technician

About the Opportunity: We are seeking Network Technicians to support network infrastructure deployments, equipment installations, migrations, and cabling projects within a large-scale data center environment. This role offers hands-on experience working with network hardware, fiber optics, structured cabling, and critical infrastructure in active production environments. This is an excellent opportunity for both entry-level and experienced technicians looking to build a long-term career in data centers, telecommunications, and network infrastructure. Technicians will gain exposure to enterprise-scale environments while developing highly transferable technical skills and advancing into more specialized infrastructure and networking roles. Key Responsibilities: + Rack and stack network equipment, servers, and supporting hardware. + Install, remove, route, label, and dress fiber optic and copper cabling. + Perform patching, circuit tracing, audits, and connectivity verification. + Support network migrations, cutovers, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure modifications. + Install and replace optical transceivers and network jumper connections. + Troubleshoot fiber optic circuits and network connectivity issues. + Read port maps, diagrams, work packages, and technical documentation. + Complete QA/QC documentation, audits, and project reports. + Follow all safety standards and operational procedures within active data center environments. Required Qualifications: + 6+ months of experience in data centers, structured cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, networking, or related technical environments. + Experience with fiber optic and/or copper cabling, including installation, patching, labeling, dressing, and cable management. + Experience with rack and stack activities involving network equipment, servers, or supporting hardware. + Ability to read and follow port maps, diagrams, work packages, and technical documentation. + Comfortable using laptops and documenting completed work. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. + Must be comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and lifting equipment as needed. + Strong work ethic, reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience supporting network migrations, cutovers, infrastructure upgrades, or troubleshooting activities. + Experience troubleshooting fiber optic circuits using VFLs, power meters, loopback testing, or similar tools. + Familiarity with single-mode and multi-mode fiber environments. + Experience with circuit tracing, auditing, and QA/QC documentation. + Previous experience working in active production data center environments. + Knowledge of networking concepts, routers, switches, and network infrastructure. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandston, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
