Job Summary
The Network Maintenance Technician I responsibilities are to assist in the installation, maintenance, and basic fabrication required for facility-wide network infrastructure, endpoint devices, access control systems, and low-voltage cabling. Needs the ability to deal tactfully, effectively, and courteously with co-workers, management, and our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Install and/or replace TVs in office spaces, breakrooms, and throughout the facility.

Maintain all Raspberry PIs and IGEL endpoints throughout the facility.

Maintain and service desktop hardware as needed.

Maintain, service, and support all access control equipment throughout the facility.

Install, service, and replace VoIP phones as needed.

Terminate and service Cat5/Cat6 cabling (Shielded, Non-Shielded, and Plenum cables), including network jacks and RJ-45 connectors.

Terminate and service Fiber cabling (Single-mode and Multi-mode).

Install, manage, and service WIC boxes, patch panels, wire management systems, network switches, and UPS backups inside IDF cabinets throughout the facility.

Install, service, and replace Wireless Access Points (WAPs) throughout the facility.

Install, service, and replace IP camera systems and components on individual machines as well

as main facility-wide cameras.

Troubleshoot network issues and resolve them as soon as possible to prevent downtime.

Apply basic fabrication skills in the kaizen shop to make custom brackets, stands, or other items required for new and existing network equipment installs.

Apply basic troubleshooting skills to determine and resolve issues to maintain a smooth-running infrastructure (e.g., bad jacks, faulty cables, switch ports, patch cables, incorrect VLANs).

Communicate with the supervisor about any work that requires outside expert assistance.

Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor.

Follow all safety requirements, including lockout/tagout and the proper use of appropriate PPE.

Support the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program by providing resources, ideas, and knowledge to improve the reliability of critical equipment.

Workdays and schedules are generally routine, however are subject to change. Be prepared/available to work evenings and weekends as assigned.

Ability to carry, extend, and climb ladders safely.

Need the ability to work independently or as part of a team and follow oral and written instructions.

Must be ok with heights and using a boom lift/scissor lift that will go up to 30 feet high.

Overtime may be required without notice to complete assigned work; time off may be offered or required within the same pay period to meet budget demands.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience: Hands-on experience in IT/network infrastructure maintenance, structured cabling, and hardware support.

Aerial Lift Certification/Experience: Previous experience operating scissor lifts and boom lifts is strictly required.

Technical Skills:

Expertise with copper (Cat5/Cat6) and fiber termination.

Familiarity with IDF cabinet management (switches, patch panels, UPS systems).

Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, switch ports, IP routing).

Physical & Practical Requirements:

Basic fabrication skills (working with tools in a shop setting to construct mounts/brackets).

Ability to climb, work at elevated heights, lift equipment, and maneuver around a facility floor.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving ability, high attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a smooth-running infrastructure.
