This role is well suited for individuals with healthcare support experience, such as CNAs, Medical Assistants, EEG Technicians, Surgical Technologists, or similar clinical professionals who enjoy patient care and are interested in supporting surgical procedures.

Position Summary:
The Neurotechnologist Support Specialist (NSS) assists the Neurotechnologist team by providing operational and procedural support for neurophysiological monitoring of the nervous system during surgical procedures that pose a risk to neural structures and function. The NSS ensures case preparation, coordinates with surgical teams, and handles logistical tasks to enable efficient monitoring and quality patient care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide support typically between the hours of 6:00 am – 2:00 pm. Hours will vary from time to time to support operational needs.
  • Check the surgical schedule for all cases of the day and report updates or changes to management and technologists.
  • Monitor for additional cases requiring coverage, notify area leadership, and ensure assignments are in place for technologists and remote neurologists.
  • Set up equipment, laptops, and supplies for scheduled and add-on cases.
  • Communicate with nurses and anesthesiologists, consent patients, and place electrodes to obtain baseline readings.
  • Provide interim monitoring until the assigned technologist arrives and proper hand-offs are completed.
  • Provide routine breaks for technologists throughout the day.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and deliver replacement equipment or supplies as needed, including to other facilities.
  • Maintain cart and cage supply inventory, conduct routine checks, and ensure all equipment is properly stocked and functional.
  • Coordinate with area leadership to address inventory needs.
  • At the end of each day, verify the cases for the following day and confirm with management.
  • Ensure all cases are properly closed out, and supplies are restored.
  • Participate in training opportunities for advanced cases.
  • Perform tasks assigned by leadership, including administrative and operational support.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional events.
