Join a leading global financial institution as a Java Developer on a 12-month contract, contributing to critical Global Markets trading and market infrastructure by designing and developing high-performance, scalable Java applications in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance mission-critical applications supporting Global Markets business operations
- Deliver approximately 80% hands-on software development focused on building and maintaining high-performance middle-tier Java services
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to develop new capabilities across enterprise integration platforms such as MuleSoft and TIBCO
- Partner with business users, compliance teams, and senior stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective technical solutions
- Support and enhance applications in a high-availability, mission-critical production environment
- Provide Level 3 production support by troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
- Contribute to architecture discussions, conduct code reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion engineering best practices including clean code, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Required competencies and certifications
- Strong hands-on Java development experience within enterprise environments
- Excellent knowledge of Core Java and middle-tier application development
- Proficient with messaging technologies such as IBM MQ, Kafka, and JMS
- Solid understanding of Linux, JDBC, SQL/RDBMS, XML, and in-memory databases
- Experience applying software engineering best practices, design patterns, and object-oriented programming
- Skilled in CI/CD and DevOps tools including Jenkins, Gradle, GitHub, Artifactory, and Ansible
- Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI)
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience with MuleSoft or Mule ESB
- Knowledge of TIBCO and API Integration
- Familiarity with ReactJS and AngularJS frameworks
- Experience with Elasticsearch
- Understanding of functional programming concepts
- Background in Global Markets or Investment Banking
- Knowledge of SWIFT messaging
