New Zealand: Security Supervisor (Hamilton Temple)

The Special Projects Department (SPD) is seeking to appoint a Security Supervisor. This permanent full-time position reports to the Temple Facilities Manager and will be based at the Hamilton Temple. This plays a vital role in protecting and securing the sacred and temporal aspects of the temple, its grounds, employees, patrons, and visitors and leads security operations to help ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming temple environment.

As the Security Supervisor, you will oversee daily security operations, supervise and schedule security personnel, and always ensure appropriate security coverage. You will lead hiring, training, and development activities for security staff while maintaining incident reporting and payroll records. The role includes supporting emergency preparedness, conducting security inspections and investigations, overseeing electronic alarm and surveillance systems, and collaborating with local law enforcement and emergency services. You will also identify and recommend measures that strengthen the security and safety of temple facilities and grounds.

• A four-year degree in law enforcement or a related field and at least two years of law enforcement experience; or four years of law enforcement experience; or an equivalent combination of temple security and security-related experience

• At least two years of significant supervisory or leadership experience

• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and develop security personnel

• Experience working with security procedures, risk mitigation, investigations, and emergency response activities

• Knowledge and experience in operating, monitoring, calibrating, and maintaining electronic alarm and surveillance systems

• Current First Aid and CPR qualifications

• Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills

• Basic computer proficiency and the ability to maintain reports and records accurately

• Sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment

• Ability to establish effective relationships with law enforcement, emergency services, and internal stakeholders

• Proof of Legal Right to Work in New Zealand

• A police background check may be required
