Newbuilding Superintendent (0227 November 2024)
Royal Ocean Marine is seeking a skilled Newbuilding Superintendent for our client to oversee the construction of new vessels from inception to delivery. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including shipyards, surveyors, and designers, ensuring that the build process adheres to the specifications, timelines, and quality standards established by the company. The Newbuilding Superintendent plays a critical role in preventing issues during the construction phases and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the newbuilding projects from design to delivery, ensuring timely completion of vessel construction.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders, including shipyards, designers, and maritime regulatory bodies.
- Monitor progress and quality of work at shipbuilding sites, conducting regular inspections.
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant maritime regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Identify, report, and mitigate any potential risks or issues during the newbuilding process.
- Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring they are adhered to throughout the construction process.
- Facilitate communication among project teams to address challenges and implement solutions in a timely manner.
- Participate in the final acceptance tests and sea trials before delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in shipbuilding or newbuilding project management.
- Strong knowledge of maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Experience with managing projects in a shipyard environment is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to travel to shipyards as required for on-site oversight and inspections.
