You will shadow daily newsroom operations and gain exposure to the full news-gathering process, from story idea to air. This internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism, communications, or a related field who want real-world exposure to the pace and teamwork of a working newsroom.
Job Responsibilities:
- Learn the fundamentals of producing alongside our team, including writing, researching and fact-checking, logging video, and timing stories and newscasts.
- Gain hands-on exposure to reporting, including shadowing field crews, interviewing sources, logging video, writing stories, and appearing on camera.
- Sit in with our digital team to pick up the basics of writing and posting stories to News9.com, as well as using social media to share and gather news.
- Round out your experience by observing other members of our diverse newsroom across departments and shifts.
- Work on building a sample of work over the course of the internship.
- Perform other internship-related duties as assigned.
Job Schedule: This is an unpaid internship for college credit. Interns will work primarily dayside hours, with the opportunity to also work the morning shift to see a different side of newsroom operations. We are flexible on schedule, but you must meet the hours required for your college credit. This internship is available for the Fall semester.
