Summary
Lead overnight operations at a Materials Recovery Facility, supervising a team of operatives to process recyclables safely and efficiently while hitting production targets and maintaining health and safety standards.
We're looking for a proactive and experienced Night Shift Supervisor to lead our overnight operations within our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). You'll be responsible for supervising a team of operatives, ensuring the safe and efficient processing of recyclable materials, and maintaining high standards of productivity, quality, and compliance throughout the night shift.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of operatives, allocating work and providing coaching and support throughout the shift.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture by carrying out safety briefings, ensuring correct PPE is worn, and identifying and reporting hazards.
- Monitor the performance of plant and equipment, coordinating with the maintenance team to minimise downtime and resolve operational issues.
- Oversee the sorting and processing of recyclable materials, ensuring output quality meets required standards and contamination is minimised.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the facility to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
- Record shift performance, production figures, incidents, and equipment issues, providing clear handovers to the day shift.
- Monitor productivity and recovery rates, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and team performance.
- Ensure all company policies, environmental requirements, and operational procedures are followed at all times.
- Previous experience supervising teams within an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, or waste environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Ability to work permanent night shifts.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Experience working within a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) or waste management environment.
- Knowledge of recycling processes and material quality standards.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- Experience supervising plant operations and production targets.
