Node.js Developer
Job Description
We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer with experience in Node.js, PHP and Go (Golang) to join our development team. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and enhancing backend applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable and high-performing. You'll work closely with the wider development team to deliver robust software solutions while continuously developing your technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and support backend applications using Node.js, PHP and Go (Golang).
- Write clean, efficient and well-tested code following established development standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug and resolve application defects.
- Enhance existing systems by analysing business requirements and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including technical specifications and test plans.
- Monitor system performance and provide ongoing application support.
- Work with the development team to implement new features and technologies.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree or certification in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Commercial or junior-level development experience with Node.js.
- Exposure to PHP and Go (Golang).
- Understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience working with databases such as MongoDB.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ and Redis.
- Experience using version control systems, particularly Git.
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Good written and spoken English.
Desirable
- Experience with Web Services, WCF or Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
- Exposure to cloud-based or distributed application development.
