Non-Credit Instructor - Medical Assistant

The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department of Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach the following course:

Important: Please note that a non-credit instructor is not an adjunct position. Successful candidates teach courses in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department (WDLL).

Primary Responsibilities: The ability to teach a program up to 460 hours, up to 25 hours per week (5 days per week for 19 weeks) which includes the following subject areas:

• Anatomy, Physiology and Medical Terminology
• Infection Control, HIPAA, OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements of the medical office
• Office administrative procedures: medical records, filing, electronic PMS such as Medisoft, office machines and telephone
• Clinical procedures common to the outpatient medical office
• Supervises students, conducts classroom instruction and practical exercises, maintains a safe environment conducive to learning, maintains classroom facilities

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience teaching the subject matter
• Experience teaching adult learners
• Three (3) years’ experience working as a Medical Assistant
• Ability to teach in Edison, New Brunswick, or Perth Amboy
• Possesses and maintains current certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or as a healthcare provider with a license/certification beyond MA

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience teaching in higher education
• Experience/certification in phlebotomy and/or EKG
