Position: Security Officer

At the DoubleTree by Hilton New York – LaGuardia Airport, the safety and comfort of our guests and team starts with a vigilant, professional Security team. We're looking for a Security Officer who brings a strong sense of authority, sharp observation skills, and genuine hospitality to everything they do.

About the Role

As our Security Officer, you'll be responsible for the surveillance and protection of our premises, staff, and guests - detecting suspicious activity, preventing theft or vandalism, and responding quickly and calmly to any situation that arises. You'll be a visible, reassuring presence throughout the property, while also supporting guests with everyday needs.

What You'll Do

  • Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish a visible presence
  • Monitor surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful activity
  • Ensure all security alarms and camera systems are functioning properly
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation
  • Follow Emergency Protocol as needed, including addressing wrongdoers or trespassers on the property
  • Respond to suspicious or unlawful activity by monitoring the situation, alerting appropriate personnel and law enforcement, and following hotel protocol until authorities arrive
  • Maintain and submit daily surveillance logs, documenting suspicious activity or any notable occurrences requiring follow-up
  • Adhere to key control policies and procedures
  • Ensure all guestroom doors are closed and public access doors are secured throughout your shift
  • Maintain working knowledge of all hotel functions and services
  • Ensure guest needs and requests are addressed in a timely manner
  • Assist guests with luggage as needed
  • Act as concierge when covering the hotel lobby
  • Periodically monitor the pool area for safety and security purposes as needed
  • Maintain a professional, composed tone with guests and fellow Associates, using guest names throughout interactions
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and hotel functions
  • Comply with all company standards and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Other duties as required

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED; 2 years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous hotel security experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong observation skills and the ability to inspire respect and authority
  • Familiarity with report writing
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations
  • Valid NY State Security Guard registration (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
