North Ridge Discovery Kids Director

If so, YOU may be our new full-time Discovery Kids Director at our North Ridge campus! We are called to bring up children in training and the instruction of the Lord and we need people with skills like yours to lead our staff to best nurture, love, and guide the next generation towards God.

As the North Ridge Discovery Kids Director, you are a vital part of the Team, responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. In this role, you will report to Central Discovery Kids Minister and are responsible for providing supervision and leadership to Discovery Kids North Ridge and to help kids discover who God is and His plan for their lives.

Your Essential Responsibilities:

For the safety and protection of minors and vulnerable adults, you will be responsible for understanding and complying with mandatory reporting laws, along with training any volunteers under your supervision (if applicable) to ensure adherence to these legal requirements.

In this position you will:

Cast Vision

• Cast vision, build a team, and execute ministry in Discovery Kids and oversee the programming for kids 0 - grade 5.
• Communicate and represent the vision of Discovery Kids and SBC to parents and volunteers on a regular basis

Build Teams

• Work as a collaborative and cooperative member of the Discovery Kids and Next Gen Ministry Teams
• Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and care of the volunteers and Jr. volunteers as needed for weekend services and special events and oversee the Discovery North Ridge staff and volunteer teams
• Develop and provide leadership to the following ministry teams: Greeter, Kids Check, Set up/Clean up, Worship and AVL
• Responsible for the ongoing recruitment, training and appreciation of volunteers for the ministry
• Commitment to developing volunteers who move through the PEO process – Participation, Engagement, and Ownership
• Help to raise up volunteers and build community within the Discovery Kids volunteer team
• Maintains updated serving teams of all your volunteers in ROCK

Execute Ministry

• Create an environment that is safe, fun, and represents Jesus for all kids in your area
• Ensure that all aspects of Kids Check are ready
• Welcome and connect with all new families
• Make sure all classrooms are fully staffed at all weekend services
• Oversee that the Discovery Kids North Ridge building, and all included areas are clean, stocked, and organized
• Help develop, memorize, and record the weekly video teaching for all of Discovery Kids
• Edit weekly small group curriculum and distribute to volunteer leads for weekend services
• Plan a fun and engaging large group experience for weekend services. Develop volunteers to be included in its implementation
• Supervise the North Ridge Discovery Kids team and provide ongoing team building and development
• Develop and monitor annual goals, objectives, and budgets
• In addition to normal work hours, you will be required to work on Sundays and childcare events as needed
• Ensure that childcare programming events are prepped and appropriately staffed

As a Team Leader you will:

• Supervise Discovery Kids Team Member(s) and provide ongoing team building and development
• Act as a servant leader by training, encouraging, coaching, and developing your Team Member(s)
• Develop and monitor annual goals, objectives, and budgets
• Foster a spirit of trust and of innovation on your team
• Meet personally in a pre-scheduled one-on-one meeting with each Team Member at least once a month
• Meet as a Discovery Kids North Ridge team once a week
• Approve PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports

Other Responsibilities (Non-Essential):

• Assist in the development of and manage the annual budget for Discovery Kids
• Related duties or special projects as assigned
