Job Summary
Assist the Director of Finance by overseeing daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and leading the accounting team to support effective financial management within the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily accounting operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies
- Perform bank reconciliations and month-end reconciliations for all general ledger balances to maintain financial integrity
- Prepare trial balances and comprehensive financial reports for management review
- Review and analyze all accounts prior to issuing final monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy
- Lead and manage accounting team members to perform duties efficiently and effectively
- Foster teamwork and develop team spirit to enhance department performance and collaboration
- Develop and maintain timetables for monthly report completion and work schedules to meet deadlines
- Prepare various monthly financial reports as required by management for informed decision-making
- Conduct financial analysis on monthly statements and report findings to the Director of Finance to support strategic planning
- Assist in verifying purchase requisitions against capital expenditure and expense budgets to control costs
- Ensure sub-ledgers and supporting documentation are properly maintained to support the general ledger accuracy
- Safeguard contracts and agreements and oversee accounting procedures related to these documents to ensure compliance
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior finance or accounting role
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and relevant financial and accounting reporting systems
- Full understanding of accounting principles and financial regulatory standards
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
- At least 4 years of experience in the hotel industry
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage teams
- Excellent communication skills for clear customer and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
- Results-oriented with strong attention to detail
- Motivated self-starter and team builder
