Special Needs Caregiver – Palm Harbor, Florida
Position: Caregiver for an Individual with Special Needs
Location: Palm Harbor, FL
Schedule: Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays, 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Hours: 36 hours per week
Transportation: Reliable personal vehicle required
Mileage Reimbursement: Available for approved patient-related.

Job Description
Paramount Home Health Care is seeking a dependable, patient, and preferably mature male caregiver to support an independent individual with special needs in Palm Harbor, Florida.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with special needs, demonstrate good judgment, and remain calm and professional when handling challenging situations. The patient is very independent but requires supervision, companionship, and a caregiver who understands how to recognize, manage, and de-escalate a crisis when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and support to an individual with special needs.
- Accompany the patient into the community for outings, recreational activities, and other approved activities.
- Encourage independence while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
- Recognize signs of distress and use appropriate crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain patience, professionalism, and a calm demeanor during challenging situations.
- Assist with community participation and daily activities as needed.
- Follow the patient's care plan and agency guidelines.
- Communicate relevant concerns and updates to the appropriate parties.
Requirements
- Previous experience caring for or supporting individuals with special needs is strongly preferred.
- Mature, dependable, patient, and responsible.
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
- Comfortable transporting or accompanying the patient into the community.
- Ability to remain calm and safely manage challenging behaviors or crisis situations.
- Strong communication skills and sound judgment.
- Must be able to commit to the scheduled shifts on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
Mileage reimbursement is available for approved, patient-related transportation and community activities, subject to agency policies.
