NPI Workshop Technician
The NPI (New Product Innovation) Support Team is responsible for manufacturing prototype parts and specialist tooling for Watson Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions. Using CNC machinery, CAD/CAM, advanced metrology systems additive technology we manufacture and inspect new product concepts and develop robust manufacturing and inspection processes. Working with Design, Production and Process engineers, we ensure that prototype components are manufactured to the highest quality and in a timely and efficient manner, turning innovative ideas into reality and reducing time to market. The successful applicant will work well as part of a highly skilled team will always be looking for opportunities to improve and enjoy supporting fast-paced innovation in a market-leading global organisation. Key accountabilities include: Setting operating CNC lathes machining centres. Taking responsibility for day-to-day care maintenance of machinery ancillaries, including monitoring of coolant systems. Using innovative modern methods, you will be planning the manufacture of components to best suit end-user requirements. Working with our design team, you will be involved in the inspection measurement of prototype parts using conventional measuring instruments state of the art methods such as a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine). This will extend beyond components manufactured on site to bought-in parts such as mouldings castings. Using additive manufacturing technology to rapidly produce prototype parts, fixturing tooling. Discussing concepts with design, production process engineers to advise on best practice for DfM (Design for Manufacture). Regular involvement in the design manufacture of tooling fixturing to enable component manufacture aid with constant improvement of processes. Maintaining condition stock levels of cutting tools used in the NPI workshop to ensure that we always have the required hardware. Involved with the creation implementation of working procedures to ensure efficiency consistency is maintained.
